Acer’s netbook showed up on Amazon yesterday and today they have a press release about their first Android powered smart phone, the Acer Liquid. It’s a snapdragaon powered Donut sporting (Android 1.6) smart phone with a nice Wide VGA screen, presumably 800×480. I guess this would fall into the definition of “Large” screen for an Android device. This is supposedly running around 1Ghz, which should make the snapdragon powered device plenty “snappy”. (Couldn’t resist myself) On top of the great hardware, Acer is going to add some customization, as is the “in” thing with phone developers and their Android devices. They’ve listed some information on the press release as follows:
- Improved power management to help achieve longer battery autonomy for intense users;
- A new user interface with easy access to entertainment and web bookmarks;
- An optimized camera with geo-tagging, ISO, self-timer options and accelerated auto-focus performance;
- Exclusive Spinlets™ application providing free streaming of worldwide music and video, that can be shared with friends and family through web-posting or e-mail;
- Smart integration of Facebook™, Twitter™, Youtube™, Picasa™ and Flickr™ in the address book, with realtime notification of status or content updates.
This is going to be very interesting indeed. Of course, it’s also got some style behind it too, for those of you drooling, like me a little, it comes in Red, White and Black.
