Sprint Updates Hero Firmware

Sprint is sending out a small (3.5MB) update to the HTC Hero.  It’s just a small update, nothing to get really excited about, unless that is you want the SMS app to work properly and allow the phone to sleep after sending a message.  It appears, just from initial posts to the sprintusers.com forums, that the update might have fixed the SMS bug that was causing a little battery issue because the phone wasn’t sleeping after using the stock SMS app.  That’s great news, and it’s good to see Sprint/HTC working quickly to get that update out there.  Last I’d read the update would be taking “a few weeks”.  That was a few days ago.  With this and the $99 Best Buy deal for a Sprint Hero, it’s looking more enticing than before.  Very excited indeed.
