Xperia X10 for AT&T – Sorry T-Mobile

HSPAAt least for here in the US, it appears the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 will on work on AT&T’s 3G network.  However, don’t fret too much.  The official X10 website still lists the networks as: UMTS/HSPA 800/850/900/1700/1900/2100.  Notice 1700 is still in there?  Right, well a little while later it goes on to state: “UMTS HSPA 800/850/1900 only available for phones sold in Americas (except Brazil) and Australia. UMTS HSPA 900/1700 not available for phones sold in Americas. UMTS HSPA 1900/2100 available worldwide.”
So it appears that if you want to run the Xperia X10 on T-Mobile’s 3G network here in the states, all you have to do is purchase the phone outside of the US? That’s my take on the situation. It appears there might be three versions of the phone, (800/850/2100, 900/1700, 1900/2100), but I’m a little hesitant on that until more details emerge.

Odd seeing Tmo is the only one that uses UMTS1700. Don’t know of anyone else. So…The question…Why even offer UMTS1700 outside of the US, let alone at all? Just tarded…

Interesting. That would make 2 Android devices headed for AT&T. I wonder if they’re prepping for the departure or non-exclusivity of the iPhone?

@ J I thought TMo was the only 1700 band user, but I thought maybe I didn’t know. There are lots of other countries out there and I wasn’t up to speed on all their network workings. So, if that’s true, that really is strange. Why even offer a 1700 at all? My thought: SE built it for either network, then AT&T offered some sort of exclusive deal, with the understanding SE wouldn’t sell a 1700 model in the US, at least for a while.
