Well, that didn’t take long. As I reported earlier this morning, the HTC Hero ROM with Sense UI on top of Android 2.1 was found and a dump of the files was made. The result was a custom ROM for the G1/myTouch 3G crowd. Well, now behnaam from XDA has released an already updated ROM for the GSM version of the HTC Hero. Not sure if this will work with the CDMA version found here state side, but it’s a start and since it was just last night the first G1/myTouch 3G build was released, it shouldn’t be too long before this is built for the CDMA Hero as well. At least that’s what I keep telling myself and you the reader.
UPDATE: XDA Dev flipzmode has created an Android 2.1 build of the Hero ROM that will load onto a Sprint HTC Hero. It has very limited functionality, but it does make and receive phone calls, even if it states that there is no service. Check out the thread here.
