On the HTC Developer’s website there is mention of a NAVTEQ Global LBS Challenge. A quick click through brings you to the HTC 2010 NAVTEQ Global LBS Challenge announcement page where HTC proudly announces their support for the challenge and states they will be providing the competition with HTC Touch Diamond2 phones and HTC Hero phones as well as HTC Hero’s Development Tool. What the heck is that?
Flex Your Development Muscles!
Create a top notch location based services solution for an HTC Hero widget, and HTC will consider your entry for the Best Home Screen Widget Design prize. The HTC Hero widget you develop must bring valuable information to users instantly for an at-a-glance view on the home screen of the phone.
Specifically, the winning solution will be in line with the our guiding design philosophy – HTC Sense™. HTC Sense is a customer experience focused on three core principles: Make It Mine – create solutions that are tailor-made to the individual, Stay Close – empower users to connect with key people in their lives, and Discover the Unexpected – deliver a surprisingly simple and intuitive user experience. The location-based solution which captures the essence of HTC Sense will bring users instantaneous and relevant knowledge that helps them get the most out of the world around them, and helps them stay in touch with people they care about.
This is interesting indeed, and nice to see a little competition for developing more and better Android widgets, but I am most curious about the HTC Hero Development Tool and what exactly that is. Anyone have info for me?
