HTC STILL Can’t Talk about Eclair and Hero

htc-brand-quietly-brilliant_2Yesterday, HTC sent out a tweet that plainly states:

Believe it or not, I STILL can’t say anything more about Eclair coming to Hero.  Working as fast as we can, promise!

I am actually encouraged by this tweet as it sounds like HTC is really working to get this done before end of year.  Hopefully the carriers will take notice, especially Sprint here in the US, and we’ll get updates soon after they are available.  No word if that “Hero” includes both the GSM and CDMA versions or not and what Eclair really consists of, Android 2.0 or Android 2.1.  I always thought it was Android 2.0 and 2.1 would be Flan, but I’ve been reading 2.0 and 2.1 are both Eclair.  Any thoughts?

Correct, but HTC Makes both the GSM and the CDMA versions of the Hero. The GSM versions are found everywhere but the US. I know through reading through various threads on XDA that developers are having troubles getting the Hero 2.1 leak to work on Sprint Heroes because they are CDMA. So, it’s apparent there is definitely work being done on the GSM Hero ROM and that doesn’t directly port to the CDMA version, so I’m just hoping HTC is working on the CDMA version as well for Sprint Hero users.
