Android 2.1 on DROID

android-2.1-on-droidApparently, a somewhat stable, if not a little finicky, Android 2.1 build from Nexus One has been ported over to the Motorola DROID.  There are a few steps that must be taken, it’s not a quick throw in a go ROM, but it’s still Android 2.1.  There is a step by step guide on alldroid.org.  This is a somewhat stable ROM from what I’m reading, though it has a few quirks such a T CDMA showing as the service provider instead of Verizon Wireless.  Also, be careful about installing this and do it at your own risk as there are a few reports of problems already.  So, I guess if you are lucky to get it on there without issues, then it’s stable.

thanks to John G for the tip from droidforums.net
