Sprint has gone one step further and actually clarified exactly which Android update will be coming to the HTC Hero and Samsung Moment. With one quick tweet, they have taken all the guessing out of the update indicating they will skip Android 2.0 and go straight for 2.1, but unfortunately they don’t help with clarifying the timeline, so it still could happen as late as June 2010 according to their post. However, considering what we’ve seen leak out, I have a feeling it might be sooner.Here is the tweet Sprint put up:
Slight clarification on Android OS updates for the HTC Hero & Samsung Moment. Will be updating straight to Android 2.1, not 2.0, in 1H2010.
That’s pretty clear and a real surprise that someone actually made a commitment so direct. I’m glad to hear that personally, as I walk around with an HTC Hero these days. Let’s hope this is signs to come for everyone.
