CyanogenMod 4.2.13 Available

ROM developer Steve Kondik has just released CyanogenMod 4.2.13 which is another “stable” release in his long series of great releases.  His custom ROMs have been around for a while and they just get better and better with time.  They are available for the Dream (T-Mobile G1) and Magin 32B (T-Mobile myTouch 3G).  If you have never installed a custom ROM or rooted your phone, I recommend it, it’s very easy and can result in stability, performance and feature improvements that make for a great Droid.The change log for 4.2.13 is nice:

—- v4.2.13
* Fix backwards compatibility code for services
* All new multitouch code using Eclair API
* New kernel with tweaks and new SDCC driver from Nexus tree
* Contacts app updated to Wysie’s 2.7
* Fixed the fix_permissions script
* Various other minor bugfixes
* KNOWN BUG: Long press contact causes crash. Fixed apk here (push to /system/app)

Head on over to XDA Forums for more information, where you can also learn how to root your G1 or myTouch 3G in preparation for CyanogenMod.  There are a number of other ROMs available, so look around.

    Can you root a Dream without voiding its warranty?
    I know that you have to void the warranty to install a custom rom.

    As with any phone, rooting and/or installing a custom ROM won’t necessarily void any warranty. If you do a proper backup of the phone, you can always turn back the rooting/custom ROM to factory refresh and your phone will be like it was from the box. This, of course, assumes you have no bricked your phone. If you manage to destroy it to the point you cannot reinstall your backup, it’s possible the manufacturer and/or service provider will not repair/replace it.

    hi,
    Where can I find the source code for this ROM?
    Cyanogen mod donut (4.213)?

    The link on github doesnot work – repo sync states “remote end hung up unexpectedly”

    Ditto on the Cyanogen Donut source, I can’t find it anywhere :(
