It didn’t take the clever folks over at Android Hilfe.de long to root the Motorola Milestone. This will open up the Droid cousin to customization, root Applications and the all kinds of extra features only available to a rooted phone. This is the first step in getting custom ROMs, either with added features or with custom themes, ported over to the phones and soon enough I think we’ll start to see some ROMs popping up for it. We have a little write up about custom interfaces if you want to see all the possibilities and risks associated with rooting and flashing your phone. You could imagine a Sense UI port over to the Milestone. Or how about a Wifi tethering app? Want to take screen shots? Try the driodcap 2 application (my personal choice of Android screen cap applications).
