Nexus One 3G Software Fix and Network Issues

An updated response from a Google employee, Ravi, posted to the Nexus One support forums is stating that Google Engineers are working on a software fix that may help some people with the 3G connectivity issues, but double talks by adding that some people on the edge of a 3G network may be out of luck as that is a network issue which they cannot fix.  Pun intended – “Edge” of 3G.

The response is to a posting about 3G connectivity, part 2, because the current 3G connectivity support thread is getting way too long.  Ravi’s post reads as such:

Hello Folks,
I wanted to post an update to the Nexus One Help Forum to let you know what we’ve been working on to help address the 3G issues some of you have been facing. I also wanted to thank you for being patient as we work to investigate the problem, an effort which has included our hardware partners.
Our engineers have uncovered specific cases for which a software fix should improve connectivity to 3G for some users.  We are testing this fix now, initial results are positive, and if everything progresses as planned, we will provide an over-the-air software update to your phone in the next week or so.  It may be, however, that users are experiencing problems as a result of being on the edge or outside of 3G coverage, which a product fix cannot address.
Thanks again for your patience and for your feedback, and we will continue to keep you informed.
Well, at least they are starting to take and issues.  Maybe we’ll see in “the next week or so” if this fix is possible via an update.  I can also understand that if you are on the edge of 3G coverage, of course you can have connectivity issues, but that should be with any phone.  Can any of our readers who are on the edge tell us if any other T-Mobile 3G phone has the same connectivity issues as those on the cusp of 3G coverage?  Let us know and we’ll keep you up to date.
