WordPress has made an official application for your personal WordPress powered blog avilable via the Android Market. Version 1.0.0 was released today and supports mutilple features for making your mobile WordPress administration easy. The official WordPress app was based heavily on the wpToGo application that has been available for some time. If you were a previous user of the wpToGo app, things should look a little familiar to you. It’s been cleaned up a little a few additional features added, including comment notification via the Android notification bar.
Some of the features in this v.1.0.0 include:
- Configure and manage multiple blogs
- Comment moderation including the ability to reply to comments
- Create and Edit Posts including categories, tags and photos
- Create and Edit Pages
- Get notified of new comments in the Android notification bar
This is a great start. One big improvement is the syncing or direct editing of your posts from the app to online. As a matter of fact, I noticed that an auto save of this particular post was already listed in the app and when I previewed it, it had the latest information as it auto saved. Making full blown posts via the app is about as expected, tedious and uncomfortable. However, in a pinch, it works great for quick edits, comment editing and such.
You can get the app via the Android Market, or at the download page.
