Motorola Milestone Feb 18 with AT&T 3G

While not officially launching on AT&T’s network, or even through a US company, the Motorola Milestone release date has been pegged at Feb 18th, via a Best Buy Canada.  The Milestone is coming to Telus officially, and according to the Best Buy Canada mobile site, those who order now can start to pick it up on the 18th.  The Milstone, is the GSM version of the Motorola DROID, and this particular version happens to carry the same 3G frequencies (850Mhz, 1900Mhz) that AT&T uses here in the states.  Assuming it shouldn’t be too difficult to unlock this particular phone, and I don’t see any reason to doubt that, AT&T users could have their 3G Android fun soon.  The posting on the Best Buy sight states the following:

Pre-order the Motorola Milestone in-store today. Simply put a $50 deposit down in-store and on February 18th you will be the first to own the Smartphone without limits.

Of course, AT&T users will probably have to/want to purchase the unsubsidized version of the Milestone, running you around 500 bones depending on exchange rate.  Or, it still might be cheaper to go contract and cancel, depending on Telus’ ETF.  One other thing of note, any OTA updates will most likely have to be handled manually as I doubt AT&T would send an update OTA to a phone they don’t even support, but come on, if you can unlock it, you can manually update it, no problem.

TELUS ECF is $400 and you would have to have a valid Canadian address and credit history to get approved without a huge deposit. TELUS is also the most evil corporation in the world, trust me you don’t want anything to do with them, just buy it outright, it will save you huge headaches.

TELUS rearranged = ESLUT They will take all your money and give you very little in return.

So.. a few questions:

These are the AT&T frequencies in the United States, not just Canada, correct? I’m aware of the differences between GSM networks but I’m not that familiar with the specific numbers.
The European milestone doesn’t support AT&T 3G, does it?

Does Telus typically add bloatware, and will this device be branded? I’ve seen other pictures where it says “TELUS” on the ‘chin’ under the screen, but I like the smooth look shown here.
