Google has a history of naming releases of it’s Android OS after yummy treats in alphabetical order. While “A” and “B” were never really know, the order became Cupcake (Android 1.5), Donut (1.6), Eclair(2.0) and the next will be Froyo(unknown). After that it becomes Gingerbread(unknown) and you have to build a little house out of your cellphones, tablets and netbooks, with a little icing to hold it all together. This information is from Brian Swetland, an Android developer working on the Linux kernel behind the Android OS, in a posting to lwn.net about the recent discussions on the Linux kernel and the Android OS involvement in the open source project.
