Acer Liquid e with Android 2.1 and Snapdragon

Acer announced a few phones this week at WMC, some were more impressive than the others, some ran on WinMo and some on Android.  The top of their list was the Acer Liquid e, which is pretty much the Acer Liquid of old, with Android 2.1, a.k.a Eclair, on board.  Acer loaded up the bone stock Android 2.1 and didn’t really change anything else, including the fact they under clock their Snapdragon to 768Mhz instead of the full 1Ghz other manufacturers are using.  This is a move to save some of that precious battery power that seems to be lacking in today’s smart phones, and from the hands on Engadget had, you won’t really miss those other 232Mhz.

The Liquid e rocks some GSM love with 3G in the 900/1900/2100 frequencies not used here in the US.  No word on if they’ll be offering a US 3G friendly version right now.  Other specs include:

  • 3.5″ WVGA LCD Touchscreen
  • 768Mhz Qualcomm 8250 Snapdragon Processor
  • 512 MB ROM, 256MB RAM
  • 5MP Autofocus Cam
  • 3.5″ Headphone Jack
  • 802.11b/g Wifi
  • Bluetooth 2.0
  • Standard set of Sensors; light, accelerometer, proximity sensor; GPS
