Well, it looks like all your waiting for the Motorola Devour will soon come to an end. It looks as if the Devour will be offered through Best Buy for $150 $99 on a 2-Year contract, or $550 without contract. I think I’ll throw out my opinion. What?!?! The DROID can be had for less than $100 right now. Personally, the software, hardware and look of the DROID far surpasses that of the Devour. I can really only find three things that would lure a consumer to the Devour rather than the DROID right now. 1) MOTOBLUR 2) DLNA Support 3)Battery Life. Let’s compare the two phones…
I didn’t really start out writing this post wanting to compare the Devour and the Droid. However, after thinking about it a little I just couldn’t understand the price point for the Devour. I just went over to the Motorola website and pulled up the specs for each phone and here is what I found:
Screen: Droid (3.7″ 480×854) > Devour (3.1 320×480)
Android OS: Droid (2.0) > Devour (1.6)
Camera: Droid (5MP) > Devour (3MP)
Battery Life Standby: Droid (70H) < Devour (443H)
Battery Life In Use: Droid (385min) = Devour (389min)
The rest I guess is more personal opinion; Looks, MOTOBLUR and feel. So, I won’t compare the two.
Well, if MOTOBLUR and DLNA is your thing, I would suggest looking into the Devour, otherwise, the Droid is what you want. Trust me. However, if the price for the Devour drops to something more like $50 on contract, $300 without, then you might want to consider the Devour.
UPDATE: The Devour looks to be $99 at Best Buy through this week as a special price and the Droid will also be $99 at Best Buy. This is a little better, but I still feel that the Droid has more to offer, though I recently read an article stating the Devour is really solid and feels good in the hands.
