Sprint has actually been fairly good about posting updates as to when they think the Android 2.1 updates for the Hero and Moment would be available. First they stated it would be in the first half of 2010, which did leave them a fairly wide window, then they narrowed it down a bit to early second quarter. Now, there is a rumor from AndroidCentral that the dates we can expect are March 22nd for the Hero and March 24th for the Moment.
The information comes from AndroidCentral’s tweets, but AC has been a fairly consistent source of reliable information. however, after trying to get a little more information from them, they are tight lipped. Late March would be pretty consistent with the earlier claim from Sprint, maybe even a little early depending on when you define the second quarter. Of course, if you aren’t patient enough, like myself, you can always load up the leaked Droid Eris Android 2.1 ROM with Sense UI. It’s missing the camera, but otherwise everything else seems good.
