At first glance, it appears the HTC Droid Incredible, which is making it’s way to Verizon Wireless’ network April 29th, has the same screen as that found on it’s older brother the Nexus One. Both screens are listed as a 3.7″ AMOLED 800×480 resolution screen and both appear identical visually. However, an article from Engadget during their hands on review indicated the touch screen felt much better, and more responsive than that found on the Nexus One or even the Motorola Droid. Turns out, there is a reason.
Android Central ran a little test using the multitouch test app used in the Nexus One test article we wrote about earlier. In that review it can be seen that the Nexus One failed at maintaining accuracy and finger position when the the two points came close to each other while the Motorola Droid had no problem. Well, good news, the Incredible does not suffer the same fate as the Nexus One and indeed it appears that it uses a whole new touch panel, this one from Amtel, the Amtel mxt224 according to a commenter on Android Central. The Nexus One uses a Synaptics ClearPad 2000 series touch panel. Let’s see how it holds up in the diagonal swype test.
