No Nexus One for Verizon Wireless?

Looks like Google might have just made the decision to not support a Verizon backed Nexus One, as they recently updated their Nexus One page suggesting users who want Verizon simply pick up the Incredible. I have to say, that’s a smart move. As far as I can tell, the Incredible is superior to the Nexus One in every way. Maybe with the recent news of 802.11n (fast wifi) support there is one area the N1 is better, but that doesn’t really make up for the touchscreen, camera, on board memory etc. The good news is, if you are looking for an Android and you are wanting Verizon, the Incredible is out this Thursday the 29th.

    This comment irks me: “As far as I can tell, the Incredible is superior to the Nexus One in every way.” Some of us DRAMATICALLY prefer vanilla Android to Sense for a number of reasons: aesthetics, faster updates, etc. Also, based on virtually every Incredible review I’ve read so far it sounds as if the Incredible feels very plasticy and not nearly of the same build quality as the Nexus One. There are two VERY significant ways that the Incredible is not superior to the Nexus One. Also, I am happy that with Nexus One and I am not supporting an over-controlling cell carrier (Verizon) who insists on tarnishing the exterior of every phone with their terrible emblem and creating super cheesy marketing campaigns aimed at middle-aged frat boys where they confusingly add the word “Droid” to every top end Android product they release regardless of the manufacturer (annoyed Motorola? you should be.) You couldn’t pay me $500 to trade in my Nexus One for an Incredible.

    Did GOOGLE decide not to support Verizon… I think not! It was and is probably more like Verizon chose not support GOOGLE and their defective phone the Nexus One

    Holy cow. I am really really really sick of people labeling the Nexus One as defective. All products have issues. The iPhone had just as many high visibility issues that lingered on the messages boards for months. The Nexus One is NOT defective. If you are referring to receptions issues, that is completely and totally T-Mobile’s fault. I have the Nexus One on AT&T and the reception is just as good as when I had an iPhone on AT&T. Multi-touch issue? It’s not an issue, they just speced a multi-touch display that isn’t as good as others phones which really only makes a difference when you are playing games. I didn’t purchase a Nexus One to replace my GBA or DS. Even with all these alleged issues this phone is light years better than the iPhone.

    Boy did I fall for it!! All that marketing made me drop my iPhone and pick up a Droid. Guess that makes me a middle aged Frat boy?

    Might be because Android is a far more powerful platform for users. Carriers aside, the Nexus One should have been a world phone. One phone with all of the most frequently used bands. If anything killed the N1 on Verizon it was the delay of waiting. Better phones come out every quarter and the Incredible is better spec’d. Cheaper feel possibly, but the compenents are better. As for Sense that can be turned off. Updates are done manually by those who dont want to wait anyway. The Nexus One is a great phone but don’t start preaching how great it us because a newer phone came out 4 months later.

    I don’t trust Verizon Wireless and they’ve already proven to be a bunch of DOLTS! I sent back a Mototola DROID after using it for 33 days (3 days extension). Love the operating system (O/S) and I miss it but I don’t miss the handset. I have been waiting for the Verizon Nexus one (VN1)for two months. Verizon can’t support an advanced device like running the DROID O/S. They cause more problems over simple issues see my blog on the matter http://techflogger.com and look at all my DROID postings.

    I am starting to think that HTC has problems with the N1. Verizon keeps buying HTC product so there is no apparent business relationship issue and there are no complaints about Verizon coming from HTC. I also do not hear T-Mobile setting the world on fire with N1 sales. Something serious is being kept from the most ardent and supportive consumers.

    Currently, I am using Google Apps Synchronized with my BlackBerry 9630 Tour. It’s not supported but but Google offers workaround which may be a good topic to Blog about.
