More excited news from Android’s Andy Rubin, you know, the engineer in charge of Android OS. Android 2.2 will come with built in support for Flash 10.1 he tells New York Times. He didn’t go into great details on how exactly that will be implemented, but my guess is through some basic core changes to ensure Flash 10.1 has access to the right system functions that it requires. If you remember we reported a while back about Android 2.2, Froyo, becoming less unified and separating the core components out from the main OS making it possible to update certain components while leaving others alone. The idea is to help unify Android a bit more and possibly make it easier for developers to add functionality such as Adobe Flash 10.1, by offering the ability to write some core functions into Android OS. All this should be announced in detail in about 3 weeks during the Google I/O event starting May 19th.
