Following closely on the heels of Verizon’s lack of Nexus One support, Sprint will skip the N1 and push for users to get the Evo 4G instead. I find the news a little sad actually. The Nexus One was more than just a hardware piece, it was an idea of a Google backed phone, with special attention from Google and support for the latest Android OS updates. Without a CDMA variant, Verizon and Sprint users must purchase an equivalent hardware platform but without the Google love. Why is this sad? I have an HTC Hero with Sprint. Had it since November 2009. I am now on Month 5 of waiting for an OS update from Sprint/HTC and still nothing. The latest news was May 7th, which came and went with nothing more than a Tweet that it was delayed again. So, yeah, Evo 4G users (you too Incredible users), be prepared to wait a while for updates to your phones. This is, of course, speculation. Maybe Google and the manufacturers/carriers have worked out some of the kinks and the next round of updates will go faster. Maybe not.
