Evo 4G Sets Sales Record at Sprint

…the total number of HTC EVO 4G devices sold on launch day was three times the number of Samsung Instinct and Palm Pre devices sold over their first three days on the market combined.” – Sprint PR

That pretty much sums up how excited Sprint is over the latest Android super phone released to the consumer. The Evo 4G set sail on Friday and within it’s first 24 hours, many of the stores around the nation were already sold out. I called my local store Friday after work and they were sold out and already on a wait list. Luckily, they did have to demo units in stock so I was able to check out the impressive hardware. Sprint is stating that there is a temporary shortage at it’s 22,000 locations around the US.

After reading through some comments, and granted these aren’t anything remotely solid, I have read anywhere from 600,000 to 1.5 million Evo 4G’s over the weekend. All we can do now is wait and see what the actual numbers are, but considering the lines, the shortages and the shear awesomeness of the phone, I think Sprint has a winner here.
