Ahead of Sony Ericsson’s pending press announcement, news has leaked about the next generation SE Android phone, named the Xperia Arc, previously known as the Xperia X12. The arc looks to be a very slick looking phone and some of the rumored details paint a very pretty picture of it’s internal components as well. The Arc is said to be coming with a 1Ghz Qualcomm processor, maybe a second gen Snapdragon, a high resolution screen at 854 x 480 and measuring a large 4.2″ across. Around back will be an 8MP back-illuminated HD camera with a single LED flash and it should be running Android 2.3 from the get-go. From the photos, it appears Sony will still be customizing the OS a bit for it’s own liking. That leads me to believe one of two things, either the OS will be Android 2.2 with customization, or the phone will take a while to hit the market with 2.3. Unless, maybe SE backed off the customization a little. It also appears to have a dedicated camera button and an HDMI port up top.
