Earlier I was reading an interesting article on androidandme.com written by Jeremiah Cohick who also runs digitaldandelion.com about developing Android apps written in standard web programming language that are then wrapped in a web to device wrapper and used to build Android apps quickly. His article used a combination of PhoneGap, the standard Android SDK [...]

Android Market at 20,000 Apps
I follow androlib on a weekly basis to review new apps and total app numbers. While this is far from official, their running list of available apps in the market has just passed 20,000. And it’s growing at a steadily increasing rate, which is excellent.

T-Mobile Enables Carrier Billing in Market
T-Mobile added the ability to charge app purchases directly to your T-Mobile bill instead of paying for them via the standard practice in the Android Market. This was done through an “invisible” update which requires no work on the end of the user.

Yelp is Now Official
Over the weekend, Yelp released the first official app to the Android market. For those unfamiliar, Yelp is most well known for reviews of local businesses, such as restaurants. In fact the Sherpa app made popular through T-Mobile and the myTouch 3G, uses Yelp’s database for restaurant reviews.

Dolphin Browser Review
A couple days ago I started hearing about the update to Dolphin Browser which brings in pinch-zoom multi-touch capabilities to the application and in turn to any Android powered phone, including the Droid. Well, I didn’t think much of the news then, because I have an HTC Hero which has built in pinch-zoom in the [...]

Since then, developers have been working hard to get a piece of the pie by building a nice app or two. Well, after a couple months, the [...]

Gameloft Completes 180
Well, here is a nice turn of events. Remember the article a couple days ago about Gameloft stating they were getting out of the Android development? Well, apparently, Gameloft released a statement on the 23rd, showing their support for 2nd generation Android phones, notably the Motorola Droid and XPERIA X10.
iPhone Facebook App Developer Out
Bad news for iPhone or good news for Android? Joe Hewitt is the man behind the very popular and, in my opinion, very well done iPhone Facebook application. Joe recently tweeted to his followers: “Time for me to try something new. I’ve handed the Facebook iPhone app off to another engineer, and I’m onto a [...]

Flurry of Android Apps Starting
Venturebeat has a nice article about data from app developer analytic company Flurry. According to Flurry the new starts for applications increased 94% from Sep to Oct of this year. I think that sounds about right and wouldn’t be surprised if that jump continues over the next few months considering the recent introduction of phones [...]
