Yesterday, HTC sent out a tweet that plainly states: Believe it or not, I STILL can’t say anything more about Eclair coming to Hero.  Working as fast as we can, promise!

CyanogenMod with Eclair

Well, that didn’t take long.  CyanogenMod has already been updated with some Android 2.0, Eclair, bits in it.  Steve Kondik, the author behind CyanogenMod has been hard at work.  He had Android 2.0 working on his G1 last night, well mostly.  It’s still missing some audio and video codecs and so it wasn’t a useful Continue Reading…

eclair-android

At least some parts of Android 2.0, Eclair, have been released on the Android Open Source Project.  It’s not complete yet, has some missing functions, won’t build for certain hardware and all the other little nuances, but at least it’s being released.  It’s better to get some of it out now and let the rest Continue Reading…

HTC confirmed today that they do have Android 2.0 on had and they are working on integrating Sense UI into it.  So, it sounds like it’s in works and let’s hope it happens sooner than later.  They state that while they can create the ROM, it’s up to their partners (Sprint here in the US) Continue Reading…

Icon Design Guidelines Abandoned

eclairicons

It looks to me that Google has abandoned their own icon design guidelines for Launcher icons.  I remember a while back reading through some of the original dev guidelines for UI and one particular page that I enjoyed was the Icon Design Guidelines.  It has a really obscure and very detailed requirements list for creating Continue Reading…

Gearlog is reporting that Motorola, Verizon and their Droid campaign aren’t the only party playing with Android 2.0.  HTC has confirmed that they are working with 2.0 in their offices as well.  HTC is the manufacturer behind the original Android, G1, as well as many others and is currently in the lead for Android powered Continue Reading…

Dell’s Android Powered MID, at least the first, is here.

dellstreak

Dell Streak – Sounds like a late night after happy hour event on the Dell campus in Round Rock, TX.  Actually, it’s a 5″ MID powered by Android of course.  It’s got 2.0, Eclair, in there powering an 800×480 capacitive touch, with multitouch love along with WiFi, 3G and Bluetooth connections.  It includes a 5MP Continue Reading…

Android 2.0 Walkthrough

2_0

The BGR has a great walk-through with tons of screen shots of Android 2.0.  Looks like they got a hold of a Motorola Droid to review and have posted all the nice screen shots and details.  It appears Google is taking some of the best of the customizations and improving it and making it native Continue Reading…

Woohoo – Eclair has landed on Google’s Lawn

Eclair

Androidandme.com has some good reports, with some great photos, of a giant eclair pastry being unloaded onto Google’s lawn today.  The video is reportedly from an Android engineer, Dan Morrill, taken via an Android device.  This is very nice, as it was only a few days after a giant donut showed up on the lawn Continue Reading…
