TAG | XPERIA X10

November 3rd, 2009.  Along with the official announcement of the XPERIA X10 from Sony Ericsson, another lesser known device was announced; The SE MW600.  What’s that you ask?  The MW600 is a stereo bluetooth FM receiver that will accept any standard 3.5mm headphones/earphones and includes a small OLED screen for displaying called ID and or music track titles etc.  Also, it supports remote volume control of your phone as well as a few noise/volume enhancing features.  Continue Reading…

AT&T's Android InvasionAs the resident AT&T user here, I think the news that AT&T is taking up the Android mantle is great. However, the press release gave us only 3 specific pieces of information. They said that among their 5 Android phones would be: 1) “Motorola’s unique form factor smartphone”, 2) Dell’s first smartphone, based on the Android platform 3) An exclusive HTC smartphone, based on the Android platform. Other than this, we exist in an information vacuum. This is to be expected, as the Nexus One has rightfully captured everyone’s attention. But if you look at what’s floating around in the pool of unclaimed Android handsets, we can get a sense of possibility. Let’s go through the 5 handsets, and see what we can confirm, and what we can speculate.

Motorola Backflip – CONFIRMED

The Motorola Backflip has been confirmed to be the “unique form factor” Motorola phone for AT&T. It was mentioned at CES, it was shown in pictures at AT&T’s presentation, and even Motorola’s site with AT&T 3G. You can read more about the Backflip here. Continue Reading…

Vodaphone will have X10 in April

Just a couple more months and all your lucky Vodaphone users in the UK can get your very own Sony Ericsson X10 Android.  Yes, that very same 4″ screen, 8MP camera with SE’s custom UI will within your purchasing power.  No word on price yet, as usual.  Will this be the first public offering?  Will the X10 enter the market sooner with another provider?  It seems like the wait for the X10 has been way too long.  Let’s hope it’s because SE was making their UI perfect.  Continue Reading…

According to omio.com, T-Mobile is getting ready for some heavy Android invasion in the coming months.  T-Mobile UK is making a big push to promote always on smart phones that are not the iPhone and what better way than with a trio of high powered Android phones in the form of the LG inTouch Max, the HTC Bravo and the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10.  Continue Reading…

Xperia X10MobileTechAddicts has apparently spoken with a Sony Ericsson rep, who reiterated that the Xperia X10 will be on track for it’s scheduled Q1 release. According to the spokesperson:

If anything appeared [on the Sony Ericsson website] saying otherwise, then it was incorrect.

Evidently this means that the only SE handset that will be delayed is the Xperia X2 Sony Ericsson’s first financial quarter ends March 31, so we can hope for a release sometime before then. The release of a handset sporting 850/2100MHz 3G will delight customers of you-know-who, even if the phone isn’t available at a subsidized price.

HSPAAt least for here in the US, it appears the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 will on work on AT&T’s 3G network.  However, don’t fret too much.  The official X10 website still lists the networks as: UMTS/HSPA 800/850/900/1700/1900/2100.  Notice 1700 is still in there?  Right, well a little while later it goes on to state: “UMTS HSPA 800/850/1900 only available for phones sold in Americas (except Brazil) and Australia. UMTS HSPA 900/1700 not available for phones sold in Americas. UMTS HSPA 1900/2100 available worldwide.”
So it appears that if you want to run the Xperia X10 on T-Mobile’s 3G network here in the states, all you have to do is purchase the phone outside of the US? That’s my take on the situation. It appears there might be three versions of the phone, (800/850/2100, 900/1700, 1900/2100), but I’m a little hesitant on that until more details emerge.

x10-hands-new-01Engadget was able to get another little early hands-on time with the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10.  They stated that this time around they noticed the speed of the device depended greatly on the amount of content on the phone itself.  They state that sometimes it was race through apps and other times just slow to a crawl.  So, it sounds like there is still alot of work to be done with the interface, which is now being referred to as Nexus.  But they have some new photos, and a nice little video to go with it.

Oh yeah, and rumors are the X10 will run around $879 US.  I might have to get a larger piggy bank if I want to save for that.  Let’s home the rumors aren’t true.

X10A post on the Sony Ericsson Product Blog has brought fourth some sample photos and a sample video from the SE Xperia X10.  This phone is set to be released in the UK in Feb of 2010, but no word yet on a US release date.  However, since it does specifically support all the US market cellular frequencies, you can rest assured it will be making it’s way here.  Continue Reading…

Sony Ericsson MW600 Released

MW600SE Also introduced a new wireless headphone set that includes FM radio support. They specifically released this with their X10, and it looks pretty slick as well, but I cannot comment on performance. It’s basically a wireless headset adapter, with a 3.5mm port, so you can use any headset you know and love with this device. But, it also includes the FM radio and a microphone and a button to support answering your phone. All this is done via bluetooth of course, so while it’s built for with the X10 in mind, it should support any phone with a bluetooth connection.  I know this isn’t Android powered or anything, but it’s related enough and I was interested in it enough to think others would also like to read about it.
